At Mathnasium, we teach kids math the way that makes sense to them. Our experienced math tutors utilize our proprietary teaching materials and techniques, The Mathnasium Method™, to deliver a customized learning plan designed to address each student’s needs, whether they started out far behind or are already ahead in math. Our instruction approach goes beyond traditional math tutoring to develop understanding and build a love for math.

PRIMARY (Year 3-6 or Grade 2-5)

All Mathnasium students start by taking a customized assessment which pinpoints their learning needs. We meet them where they are and take them where they need to go. Mathnasium’s unique assessment process determines (with great accuracy) exactly what each child knows and what they need to learn. Our assessment reveals each specific skill area that needs to be mastered so kids aren’t wasting time reviewing concepts they already know.

The primary grade program focuses on pinpointing the student’s skills and knowledge and to build their number sense- an intuitive understanding of numbers, their magnitude, relationships and how they are affected by operations.

MIDDLE YEARS (Year 7- 9 or Grade 6-8)

The initial assessment helps to build the individual learning plan and at this level we start dwelling deeper into the concepts learnt in the primary years as we begin to understand math is the basis of all the science! Students will be focusing on higher and complex concepts like graphs, linear equations , higher algebra and geometry. Assessments continue throughout your student’s Mathnasium instruction. These assessments are regularly given to ensure progress and that your child retains the skills they’ve learned.

SENIOR SCHOOL (Year 10-13 or Grade 9-12)

An initial conversation with the student about the math class he/she is currently taking and their general feeling about the subject, will help the instructor to select the correct assessment. Based on the result of the assessment the instructor will create a customized learning plan for the student.

From Year 10 onwards topics covered range from Linear Algebra, Study of functions, Geometry, Trigonometry. Year 10 onwards special attention is given to also on SAT/exam style preparation with a specialized program that focusses on both the math skills needed for the test and the practice on previous year test questions.
